My current recommendations

April 27th, 2007

Someone asked me a couple of weeks ago which sites I would recommend for grabbing mp3 files, my recommendations, in fact, for music downloads. It took me a while to get my act together, but here’s what I’m suggesting at the moment for mp3 sites:

#1 - Current top of the poll has to be eMusic.com. They have a great selection of music (okay it is almost exclusively independent label stuff, but quality is good nonetheless).

I personally joined up on this one - they charge a monthly fee (currently GBP 8.99 per month) which entitles you to 30 mp3 track downloads in the month. There is one thing that separates eMusic from many of its competitors - you get to see their music selections before you join up, even for the free trial!

But you do get 25 tracks free in the trial period (14 days). If you cancel before the 14 days is up, your card won’t be charged, and that’s the end of it.

They do have some decent stuff, it is legal, and worthwhile in the long run.

To start your 14-day free trial - and grab your 25 free downloads, go to eMusic or click the logo above.
